Job Requirements
- 5 years’ experience operating CNC equipment focused on metal machining processes.
- Knowledge of tooling and fixturing methods used for lathe and mill metal machining.
- Ability to read/interpret various industry documents such as work prints, specifications, and certifications.
- Knowledge of common dimensional and tolerancing practices within the machining industry.
- Math skills necessary for calculating dimensions, stock sizes, and parameters.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to multitask.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn from others; and independently through training material (Courses, Video, Webinars).
- Customer relations, communication, and team skills.
Job Preferences
- Knowledge of MasterCAM (Versions 2023 – 2026) and/or PowerMill (Versions 2024 – 2025)
- Knowledge of GD&T specifications.
- 2D and 3D CAD knowledge
- Programming experience with Lathes (2-Axis, Vertical, Multi-Axis, Live Mill Tools)
- Programming experience with Mills (Vertical, Vertical with 4th Axis, Vertical with 3 2, Horizonal, Bridge)
- Programming experience with EDM (2 Axis and 4 Axis, 2D and 3D profiles)
- Machine operation experience of the following: Okuma, Makino, Toshiba, YCM (Fanuc)
- AS400 knowledge
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing Tools
Job Summary
Create NC Programs with setup instructions to successfully machine metal components on CNC machines. Support tooling, fixturing, and parameter improvements. Answer operator questions and train others as needed.
Essential Job Functions
- Review 2D prints and/or 3D models to determine proper machining methods.
- Select tooling and cutting paths to develop optimal programs for a variety of machining equipment.
- Troubleshoot problems as they arise.
- Support sales, processing, and engineering when needed to assist with quoting and part routing.
- Lead and/or support continuous improvement projects with the goal of increasing efficiency.
- Work on the manufacturing floor as needed to learn all processes and support operations as needed.
