ROLE OVERVIEW

Gemcorp. is seeking a Senior Associate, Institutional Business Development, to support and expand its North America institutional investor base. Based in New York, this role is a true origination position, responsible for sourcing, developing, and advancing relationships with institutional allocators, while remaining hands‑on across DDQs, RFPs, and investor documentation.


The Senior Associate will take ownership of front‑end origination activity, driving investor engagement and opportunity development, while also executing the detailed work required to convert interest into committed capital. Final deal structuring and closing will be executed in close partnership with the Head of Business Development, but with clear accountability for originating and progressing opportunities.


Given the regulatory and distribution requirements of the role, active FINRA Broker‑Dealer registration is required, and candidates must hold Series 7 and Series 63 licenses at the time of hire.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Origination & Institutional Relationship Development
  • Proactively originate and develop relationships with US and Canadian institutional investors, including pensions, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, and institutional consultants
  • Drive door‑opening activity, including outreach, meetings, conferences, and allocator relationship mapping
  • Act as a primary relationship owner from initial engagement through diligence and investment
  • Work closely with the Head of Sales on deal strategy, positioning, and execution
  • Sales Process Ownership & Pipeline Management
  • Own and manage the North America institutional sales pipeline, ensuring opportunities are actively progressed and accurately tracked
  • Maintain disciplined sales processes, follow‑ups, and internal coordination across live opportunities
  • Prepare pipeline reporting, investor updates, and briefing materials for senior leadership
  • Act as the internal quarterback across active mandates, ensuring momentum and accountability
  • DDQs, RFPs & Investor Documentation (Hands‑On)
  • Personally lead and execute RFP, RFI, and DDQ responses, with input from internal teams
  • Coordinate inputs from Investment, Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams to deliver timely, high‑quality submissions
  • Maintain and update core institutional marketing materials, pitch decks, and investor FAQs
  • Support full due diligence processes, including data room management and ad‑hoc investor requests


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES

  • Experience in institutional business development, capital raising, investor relations, or placement‑agent environments
  • Experience raising capital for credit strategies is preferable
  • Demonstrated ability to originate and develop institutional investor relationships, not purely support them
  • Strong familiarity with US institutional fundraising processes and allocator decision‑making frameworks
  • Hands‑on experience with DDQs, RFPs, and institutional investor documentation
  • Highly organised, process‑driven, and commercially minded
  • Comfortable operating in a lean, high‑accountability environment with senior stakeholders


REGULATORY & CONDUCT EXPECTATIONS

  • Active FINRA Broker‑Dealer registration required
  • Series 7 license – mandatory
  • Series 63 license – mandatory
  • Experience operating within a FINRA‑regulated institutional distribution environment

NYC Pay Transparency: Base salary range USD $140,000–$170,000, plus a discretionary performance‑based bonus.
