San Diego, CA  •  Full-time – hybrid  •  $70K–$100K base • $120K–$150K OTE equity

About the Role

GelTech Labs is a grant & venture-backed startup building an automated cloud lab for soft biomaterials R&D. Our instrument, Carousel, automates characterization work that currently takes months of manual lab time — and we sell access to that capability as an automated testing service. This is GelTech’s first commercial hire. You’ll own the full sales and BD function: finding customers, running the CRM, closing deals, and building the partnerships that scale our reach. Hands-on from day one, growing into a team lead as the company grows.

What You’ll Own

Year 0 Hands-on

Sell automated testing services (primary)

Own the full sales cycle for GelTech’s cloud lab testing service — our TaaS offering where customers send formulations and receive automated characterization data and AI-generated reports. Find prospects, run outreach, manage HubSpot, give demos, and close. This is the primary commercial priority.

Sell automated testing instruments

Run deals for the Carousel hardware instrument and consumables targeting biomaterial and pharma R&D labs. Work closely with the CEO and scientific team to qualify prospects and tailor the commercial pitch.

Year 1 Strategy

GTM strategy, market insights & commercial collateral

Build and refine go-to-market strategy alongside the CEO. Develop market insights, define target segments, and create the collateral (pitch decks, case studies, rate cards, proposals) that scale our commercial motion.

Year 1 Growth

Customer, distributor & partner relationships team building

Develop and maintain close relationships with customers, channel partners, and distributors. As GelTech scales, recruit and lead the commercial team.

What We’re Looking For

Core experience

–   Track record selling to pharma, biotech, chemical, biomaterials or medical device companies

–   B2B SaaS or services sales in a life sciences context

–   Ability to understand and communicate complex technical products

–   CRM discipline and pipeline management (HubSpot preferred)

Nice to have

–   Existing relationships at medical biomaterial or polymer manufacturers

–   Channel sales and distributor management experience

–   Background in biomaterials, polymers, or materials science

–   Early-stage startup or founder experience

–   Team building and commercial hiring

What We Offer

Base salary

$70K–$100K depending on experience

OTE

$120K–$150K (base commission)
