Job Summary
The Senior Specialist, Supply and Operations Planning is responsible for oversight of GELITA USA’s gelatine and collagen peptide inventories. This position is responsible for short-term and medium-term (S&OE) production planning as well as final product planning and assembly (Mix Writing) to maintain target stock levels and ensure customers’ requirements (specifications and delivery dates) are met. This position also provides support for the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and FSSC 22000 management systems and the Quality, Environmental, and Food Safety Policy as appropriate in the function.
Essential Functions
- Short-term/medium-term (S&OE) production planning. Meet regularly with members of the production and/or sales teams to review production volumes and qualities and establish inventory needs for use in the development of production schedules and sales plans.
- Oversee GELITA USA’s final product assembly (mix-writing) functions, including mix-writing of blends to be produced in the Sioux City and/or Chicago facilities, and coordinating the transfer of gelatine as needed between manufacturing locations. Serve as a backup in the mix-writing duties of other Central Supply & Operations Planning team members as necessary.
- Determine product availability for orders, forecasted orders and/or information requests. Provide necessary information to facilitate customer order confirmation.
- Proactively monitor the quality and inventory level of gelatine and collagen peptide stocks to ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders and achievement of GELITA’s target stock levels.
- Review inventories on a regular basis to determine disposition for nonstandard gelatine and/or collagen peptides, including the communication and/or coordination of the disposition with relevant personnel.
- Serve as backup in the management of purchased gelatine and collagen peptide inventories and monitoring of incoming purchases as necessary. Monitor receipt and movement of purchased inventories to ensure accuracy in accordance with GELITA’s traceability program.
- Prepare and present regular inventory reports, including inventory levels and stock quality data, as needed.
- Assist the Quality and Production Teams as needed with investigations and actions regarding: OOS/Non-confirming product events, customer complaints, and product recalls.
- Assist with Planning and Month End Reporting Functions as needed.

4-year technical degree
