Position Summary
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Production Manager to oversee daily production operations and lead a team focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. This position is responsible for managing production schedules, workforce performance, inventory flow, equipment utilization, and operational processes to ensure customer requirements are met while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
The Production Manager will work closely with Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and other functional teams to optimize production performance, improve productivity, and support overall business objectives
Key Responsibilities
Production Leadership
- Direct and coordinate daily manufacturing operations to ensure production goals, quality standards, and delivery commitments are achieved.
- Develop and maintain production processes, standard operating procedures, performance metrics, and workforce training programs.
- Plan staffing, equipment utilization, and production schedules to maximize efficiency and throughput.
- Monitor production activities and address issues impacting safety, quality, productivity, or customer service.
- Manage production orders and inventory transactions through the company's ERP system.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives focused on improving productivity, reducing waste, increasing yield, and optimizing operational performance.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Implement corrective actions and process enhancements resulting from audits, production reviews, or operational assessments.
- Drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement throughout the production team.
Quality, Compliance & Safety
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support quality management systems and applicable industry standards.
- Partner with Quality personnel to investigate and resolve production-related issues.
- Ensure housekeeping, workplace organization, and operational standards are consistently maintained.
- Participate in audits and implement action plans to address findings and improve compliance.
Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop production personnel through training, performance management, and employee development initiatives.
- Conduct employee evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to support professional growth.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that emphasizes teamwork, communication, and accountability.
- Coordinate cross-functional support activities with Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Human Resources.
Facility & Equipment Oversight
- Work closely with Maintenance to improve equipment reliability and operational performance.
- Identify opportunities for equipment, process, and facility improvements that enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Support capital projects and equipment upgrades from concept through implementation.
- Maintain production-related documentation, technical records, and operating procedures.
- Coordinate calibration and verification activities for production equipment and instrumentation as required.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Manage departmental budgets and monitor expenses to ensure alignment with operational objectives.
- Oversee employee scheduling, attendance tracking, and workforce planning activities.
- Maintain accurate production records, reports, and operational documentation.
- Monitor material flow and inventory utilization to ensure efficient use of production and warehouse space.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a production, manufacturing, or operations management role.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team development abilities.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning processes.
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations, quality systems, inventory control, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and make sound operational decisions.
- Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software applications.
Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
