What are the responsibilities and job description for the Toolmaker Journeyman- 3rd shift position at Gecom Corporation?
Position Summary: Responsible for manufacturing, repairing, modifying, and maintaining precision tooling, die components, fixtures, gauges, and other tooling used in support of production operations. This position requires proficiency in manual and CNC machining equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, and wire EDMs, as well as the ability to interpret engineering drawings and produce precision components to close tolerances.
Essential Functions (Accountable for the following end results)
1. Manufacture new tooling, replacement components, fixtures, gauges, and machine parts from engineering drawings or samples.
2. Set up and operate manual and CNC mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, saws, and wire EDM machines.
3. Machine precision components while maintaining close tolerances.
4. Repair, modify, and improve existing tooling to support production and engineering changes.
5. Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, GD&T, and tooling specifications.
6. Fit, assemble, and verify tooling components to ensure proper function.
7. Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Die Maintenance to resolve tooling issues and improve tool performance.
8. Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and in safe operating condition.
9. Complete additional tasks and assignments given by Supervisor/Manager.
10. Consistent and regular attendance.
Competencies
Journeyman certification
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Forklift license/overhead crane certification (As Needed)
