Our work depends on a VMware Engineer joining our team to support Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD. At GDIT, we foster a people-focused and customer-centric environment in delivering Desktop Engineering Services.  As a VMware Engineer supporting the Government, you will be responsible for physical/virtual platforms, server build deployments, server virtualization, hyperconverged platforms, etc. In this role, a typical day will include: Designs and builds virtual environment service models including Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service. Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements for the virtualization of and distribution of applications: automating manual processes, optimizing delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability Designs, implements, and maintains VMWare vSphere virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and vSAN Analyzes user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications Incorporates new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations Develops system architecture and system design documentation Interacts with the Government regarding technical considerations and regarding associated problems, issues, or conflicts Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility What you’ll need: Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI poly Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA , or CCNA Security Bachelor’s Degree in a related technical discipline 6 years’ experience or the equivalent combination of education, technical certification or training, or work/military experience Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM Proficiency in configuring and optimizing virtual machines, storage, and networking Knowledge with configuration of virtual switches and VLANs VMware Certified Professional certification required Ability to learn new virtualization technologies GDIT IS YOUR PLACE At GDIT, the mission is our purpose, and our people are at the center of everything we do. ● Growth: AI-powered career tool that identifies career steps and learning opportunities ● Support: An internal mobility team focused on helping you achieve your career goals ● Rewards: Comprehensive benefits and wellness packages, 401K with company match, and competitive pay and paid time off ● Community: Award-winning culture of innovation and a military-friendly workplace OWN YOUR OPPORTUNITY Explore an enterprise IT career at GDIT and you’ll find endless opportunities to grow alongside colleagues who share your desire to drive operations forward. The likely salary range for this position is $144,500 - $195,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
