System Engineer

Systems Engineer / Systems Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer / Systems Administrator to support and maintain a complex, mission critical IT environment. The ideal candidate will have broad hands on experience across virtualization, operating systems, networking, security, and system hardening. This role requires an active security clearance and a Security (or higher) certification.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the VMware environment, including provisioning, performance tuning, and lifecycle maintenance
• Administer SAN storage systems and ensure high availability and data integrity
• Manage Windows servers, including configuration, patching, and troubleshooting
• Manage Linux systems across multiple distributions
• Oversee system backups and ensure successful restoration and retention compliance
• Perform vulnerability scanning and assist with remediation efforts
• Apply STIGs to all systems and maintain compliance with security baselines
• Perform OS and software updates across all platforms
• Create and maintain system documentation, including diagrams, SOPs, and configuration records
• Support preparation for a new ATO at a higher classification level
• Manage VTC systems and ensure operational readiness
• Administer network switches and assist with basic network configuration
• Perform basic troubleshooting across systems, networks, and applications
• Manage system permissions through Active Directory and group structures
• Collect and review system logs for performance, security, and operational insights
• Apply network engineering skills to support infrastructure improvements
• Leverage AI experience when applicable (preferred but not required)

Required Qualifications

• Active U.S. Government Security Clearance
• Security (or higher DoD 8570 compliant certification)
• 5 years of experience in systems administration or engineering
• Strong understanding of virtualization, storage, networking, and OS management
• Experience working in secure or regulated environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting ATO packages or RMF processes
• Familiarity with automation tools and scripting
• Exposure to AI/ML technologies
