CDHS - Custodian (Full Time) 12 month

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED preferred
• Must be able to follow instructions and work without close supervision
• Must have the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling heavy objects throughout the workday while following proper safety procedures

Job Goals:

To provide students, teachers and school staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient environment in which to learn, teach, play and develop.

Differing Categories of this Job Title: 12-month, 9-month, 'Bustodian', 4-hour part-time

Performance Responsibilities:

• In person job attendance
• Keeps the building and campus grounds neat and clean at all times
• Removes TRASH from classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices and takes out to dumpster regularly (esp on Fridays)
• Keeps Entry ways clean and clear, cleans glass and vacuums mats
• Dust mops hallways and classrooms daily and as needed, picks up debris in halls, spot mop as needed, use walk behind floor machine to maintain shine, use a scraper for gum, clean edges
• Cleans bathrooms, disinfects toilets/seats, no odors, no stains, 'blank flush', stocked with paper goods, mop floors, wipe contact points...also in locker rooms
• Dust mop Gym Floor, use walk behind floor machine (with water only) as necessary
• Cleaning offices, nurses' stations, work spaces, break rooms, Library, water fountains, windows or glass surfaces, other areas'
• Reporting issues that arise...maintenance tickets, trouble spots, vandalism, security
• Be a friendly face to the kids, teachers, other staff, offers services
• Answers to 'emergency calls'...spills, floods, etc.
• Launder mops and rags often
• Vacuum and keep vacuum clean and free of jams, empty bag, maintaining the machine
• Keep tidy the place where the kids first come in from car line or the bus to sit...The Gym...also at the end of the day where they wait to leave
• Keep stairwells free from spills, trash...sweep and mop
• Work safely, Wear PPE's (gloves, mask, clean shirt) use wet floor signs
• Keep your closets neat, odor free, stocked and locked, orderly
• OTHER TASKS/SEASONAL or AS NEEDED
• Keep inventory of what you need to be successful...Will we have enough
• Grounds work...mow, weed whack, blow leaves, ice melt walkways...
• Keep the MSDS book up to date, ready for inspections
• Help receive supplies from Bryan and Bill or other deliveries
• Light maintenance duties...including clearing stopped toilets, HVAC filters, ceiling tiles, general knowledge of your buildings and campus
• Summer work...polishing, scrubbing, stripping and waxing floors
• Cleaning up after events like home games, concerts,
• Other duties as asked or assigned...in contact with the office and principals...
• Dusting/wiping clean tops of lockers, window sills, desktops, tables, vent covers
• Knows what to do during Drills and emergencies
• Other details, be sure to take the initiative, see things that need to be done, accomplished...completes scheduled work in timely manner, is dependable, flexible, thorough, pays attention to detail
• Courteous, engages students and staff in a friendly manner, dresses appropriately

Capacity and Ability Requirements:

The usual job demands require the following physical requirements: speaking, some lifting (up to 50 lbs.), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, and physical dexterity.

Terms of Employment:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
