What are the responsibilities and job description for the EQUIPMENT OPERATOR- BIG STONE position at GCC?
What you will do:
Under general supervision of Plant Manager, operates various equipment including water trucks, graders, front-end loaders and pickup trucks.
- Performs routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking oil, water, and tires.
- Reports maintenance and repairs needed to management
- Operates graders for leveling.
- Operates front-end loaders as required.
- Operates excavators as required.
- Operates water trucks as required.
- Operates various equipment for general site preparation, landscaping and related assignments.
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Will maintain a safe working environment, adhere to safety policies and practices, perform daily housekeeping of assigned area, perform daily workplace inspections, adhere to plant policies and proper use of plant radios.
- Should be familiar or willing to be trained on MSHA safety rules, safety procedures for plant mobile equipment, lockout/Tagout policy, confined spaces policy, hot work policy, lubricants, paints/solvents and other environmentally sensitive materials.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, vendors and visitors.
- Will work where and when needed as directed by plant supervisor to meet plant needs.
Experience & abilities you will need:
- High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Basic math and computer skills
