What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surface Operator position at GCC Dacotah Inc?
What you will do:
The Surface Operator is responsible for equipment operation as well as lump coal hand screening functions to support mining operations. Position also requires willingness and ability to work outside the cab on a variety of physical tasks as assigned. (not an all-inclusive job description)
Experience and abilities you will need:
- Driver's License in good standing (Required)
- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
- Heavy equipment experience operating skid steer and front-end loaders required.
- Ability / willingness to work any shift assigned (days, swings, weekends, and graves) required. We are a 24/7 operation.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- MSHA Certification (Preferred)
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Work in a fast-paced, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 80 pounds on occasion.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, non-DOT physical, and DMV check.
- Strong documented work history and reliable means of transportation are a must.
- You must live within 60 miles of Hesperus Co. or be willing to relocate.
16-Hour MSHA Surface Certification Required
Candidates must complete a 16-hour MSHA certification course to be eligible to work on a federal mine site. If selected, training is provided by the staffing company through whom you will be initially hired.
Position Details:
- Starting Pay: $24/hour through mining staffing agency
- Path to GCC employee: After a successful probationary period, which can run three to six months depending on performance and allowable headcount candidates are eligible to transition to direct employment with GCC.
- Once on with GCC Pay: $31.22/hour plus monthly bonus, full benefits, and paid time off.
