What you will do:
The incumbent in this position is responsible for supporting the initiatives of Operations, including major and minor project studies from a financial evaluation perspective. He/she will provide business case development support from a financial evaluation and technical perspective, including preparation of presentation materials appropriate for senior audiences. The Operations Coordinator will provide direct analytical, technical, and project management support to the operations in the implementation and execution of improvement initiatives, and as needed, collaborate with cross-functional corporate teams.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum three years’ underground coal mining experience
- Experience in Mine planning & development
- Ability to analyze and provide insights into both qualitative and quantitative information
- CO Mine Foreman
Desirable:
- CO Mine Foreman Certificate
- Advanced degree
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly budget reconciliation by comparing actual results to budget numbers and explaining variances with the assistance of department heads.
- Support Leadership Team with annual budgeting and periodic re-forecasting.
- Review ongoing business performance (analysis of results, discussion with Finance and accounting Department, identifying issues/trends for follow-up).
- Cost analysis (what if) on Mine planning & development.
- Assessing capital projects and transactions and preparation of Capex submittals.
- Maintaining long-term financial forecasts.
- Mine royalties’ calculations and reporting
- Support / lead assessment phase and implementation of performance improvement projects.
- Support / lead business case development.
- Provide support for strategy initiatives.
- Provide support for Engineering in completing scoping and feasibility studies.
- Assist with cost control & projections.
- Assist with monthly / yearly accruals, fixed costs, variable costs and mixed costs.
- Need to be available beyond standard hours should questions / problems arise.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
