Accounting Manager Job Overview –

The Accounting Manager will report directly to the CFO and supervise a small accounting team while partnering closely with operations and leadership teams to improve financial visibility, billing performance, cash flow, and overall accounting processes. GCB Industries is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead our accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support strategic decision-making in a fast-paced, service-driven industrial environment. This is not a passive corporate accounting role. We are looking for someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, solving problems, improving systems, and helping build a scalable accounting department. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of GAAP, and experience managing accounting functions for a construction, HVAC, or industrial services company.

The Accounting Manager’s main responsibilities include –

• Lead all daily accounting operations, including AP, billing, collection, AR and bank reconciliation processes and maintain the general ledger
• Execute and lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Ensure accurate revenue recognition, accruals, reserves, prepaid expenses, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Create and maintain cash flow reports, prepare forecasts, and collaborate on budget controls and spending strategies
• Analyze financial and operational performance, including budget and forecast variances, trends, risks, and opportunities
• Collaborate with HR/payroll to ensure accuracy in benefit deductions and payroll and benefit accounting
• Support job cost accounting and assist project managers directly with real-time financial tracking of jobs
• Prepare and file tax documents to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements
• Collaborate with operations, estimating, and other teams to streamline processes and reporting.
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Coordinate annual budgeting and forecasting activities across multiple business units and locations
• Generate internal financial reports and build out KPI dashboards for leadership—own the data and deliver insights
• Work directly with external CPA firms to support audits and prepare for year-end filings
• Be hands-on with your team—mentor, guide, and work alongside accounting staff while supporting their growth
• Drive process improvements and optimize NetSuite and accounting processes as the company grows

Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA a plus)

·        8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction, industrial services, mechanical/HVAC, field service, or project-based accounting

·        NetSuite experience preferred

·        Strong understanding of percentage-of-completion accounting and job costing

·        Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

·        Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting and data analytic tools

·        Ability to communicate effectively with operations, field staff, and leadership

·        High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail

·        Experience managing small teams and improving accounting processes
