SCOPE OF WORK

Ability to lead and perform installations, alterations, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment within the residential, commercial, and industrial electrical industry.

Responsible for the on-site management and safety of assigned construction tasks and projects and assigned field personnel to ensure the project is completed within established budget, time and quality standards while following standard operating procedures, and adhering to all NEC state and local codes. Coordinates field installations and project close-outs, as well as develops and maintains customer/client relationships.

  • Understands and complies with Company and job safety requirements (O.S.H.A.) and enforces crew to do the same
  • Communicates importance of proper interpretation and enforcement of Gaylor policies and guidelines
  • Understands and enforces compliance with NEC, state, and local codes
  • Understands and can perform or demonstrate all Journeyperson skills
  • Possesses technical knowledge, safety knowledge, and ability to work with live/energized parts
  • Demonstrates and enforces proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Clearly understands the scope of work, including the responsibilities of other trades at site
  • Possesses knowledge of blueprints, shop drawings, and ability to visualize completed work prior to installation
  • Collaborates with field personnel and support staff

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates acceptable Company work practices that can be emulated by fellow employees
  • Cultivates a working relationship with managers, supervisors, fellow employees, and customers/clients encouraging a cooperative environment
  • Works with supervisor in personnel alignment and scheduling tasks to facilitate weekly action plans to meet project deadlines while meeting Company quality standards
  • Effectively oversees, directs, and develops an assigned team of 1-6 Helpers, Apprentices, and/or Journeypersons in proper work practices
  • Conducts meetings and huddles with assigned crew to meet project objectives and schedules
  • Ensures crew reports to assigned job site location on time, as directed
  • Assigns field employees to project tasks based upon individual’s ability and experience
  • Assists employees in identifying, analyzing, and resolving existing or anticipated obstacles
  • Leads, motivates, coaches, and develops assigned employees by giving frequent honest feedback
  • Resolves conflicts related to construction of the project as well as personnel difficulties
  • Monitors and orders materials, tools, and equipment
  • Ensures crew maintains and properly stores tools, materials, and equipment to maintain clean and a neat work area
  • Obtains supervisor’s approval prior to crew installation of requested change orders
  • Completes routine daily inspections of equipment and work areas to verify accurate and timely installations
  • Completes and documents regular safety inspections
  • Reports accidents or incidents to the Supervisor in a timely manner, per Company policy
  • Utilizes and maintains accurate project documentation (i.e. time sheets, progress reports, daily logs, etc.)
  • May interact with owners, owner representatives, architects, engineers, trade contractors, vendors, and others associated with project activities
  • Other duties, as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • May require working in all elements (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.) depending on job location and/or time of year
  • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (port-o-lets)
  • Must have required hand tools at all times while at work site (waist tool belts can weigh up to 30 lbs.)
  • Must be able to work scheduled hours as well as overtime, as required, on short notice
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments
  • Must be able to remain calm in times of heightened emotional situations
  • Must work well with others as a member of a team to complete tasks

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to wear personnel protective equipment (i.e., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high visibility vest, safety harness, etc.) when required
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift loads of up to 51 lbs.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
  • Ability to climb and use ladders and scaffolding of all types for extended periods of time
  • Possess good vision/hearing (normal or corrected)
  • Ability to make transition from designated employee parking areas to construction areas and be able to gain access to all levels of building/structure, even if only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but deemed safe for use
  • Ability to work while constantly moving
  • Ability to reach and stretch to position equipment, fixtures, etc. while maintaining balance
  • Ability to use both hands simultaneously for tying knots and for proper use of power equipment
  • Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring
  • Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits

EDUCATION

  • High School graduate or equivalency, preferred

Experience

  • Accredited Apprenticeship Program completion or six years on the job electrical experience required
  • Journeyman License requirement in states, locales, or projects, as required
