Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the press brake operation team, providing guidance on machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) press brake machines for precise bending operations, optimizing tooling and parameters for different materials.
- Conduct quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, precision measuring instruments, and visual checks to verify dimensional accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Maintain safety protocols by ensuring proper use of hand tools, tooling, cranes, forklifts, and other equipment; enforce compliance with safety standards at all times.
- Coordinate workflow with other manufacturing departments such as CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, welding, and electrical discharge machining (EDM).
- Oversee tooling management and maintenance to maximize machine uptime while minimizing defects or rework.
- Support training initiatives for team members in blueprint reading, machining techniques, fabrication processes, and quality inspection procedures.
- Processing parts when needed
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of press brake machines (minimum 5 years of experience) and CNC programming for sheet metal bending applications.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings with GD&T standards.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience operating CNC laser cutting systems, plasma cutters, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, welding equipment, and EDM machinery.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and other quality inspection tools accurately.
- Familiarity with forklift operation and crane safety procedures within a manufacturing environment.
- Basic math skills necessary for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and material requirements.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication, assembly, tooling selection, and quality control standards.
