What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prepress Operator position at Westerleigh Press LLC?
We are a fast-paced commercial print and direct mail with a national footprint. We are looking for a high energy, solution-oriented individual with the knowledge and understanding that spans across all aspects of commercial prepress, including variable data using XMPie software. This position will collaborate with all other departments to ensure timely and accurate production schedules. Integral to the success of this position will be the ability to manage a multitude of projects in a fast paced, deadline driven environment and be able to communicate effectively within the organization.
Position Summary:
§ Apogee, Prinergy, or Sierra/Xitron experience a must.
§ Variable Data with XMPie is ideal.
§ Make minimal type modifications as requested.
§ Generate and send (via email) digital color proofs for client approval.
§ Strong working knowledge of Macintosh/Windows desktop publishing applications as well as server-based rip/trap programs for page layout and automated workflows as per the company’s standard operating procedures.
§ Output proofs, impose jobs and image plates.
§ Other duties as assigned.
§ This is an evening shift position.

Required Skills/Knowledge:
§ Ability to work within demanding schedules, tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
§ Strong problem solving and quick decision-making skills.
§ Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with internal groups and external partners.
§ Independent, self-motivated, and creative with the ability to be a team player.
§ Proficient in Layouts and Imposition.
§ One of the following is a must: Xitron Sierra / Fuji XMF / Apogee / Prinergy
§ Variable Data processing using XMPie.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years PREPRESS OPERATOR EXPERIENCE. XMPie experience would be great. Suitable candidates will not be designers, freelancers, etc. The successful candidate MUST recently come from a commercial print space.
