Location: Saint Paul, MN
Gateway STEM Academy, a K–8 charter school dedicated to preparing students for success in STEM fields, is seeking a Paraprofessional to join our team. This role focuses on supporting student learning and engagement across classrooms by providing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support in a positive and inclusive school environment.
Position Overview
As a Paraprofessional, you will work under the direction of licensed teachers and school staff to support students in whole-group, small-group, and one-on-one settings. You will assist with instruction, classroom routines, and student supervision to help ensure all students are able to access learning and succeed throughout the school day.
This is a full-time position during school hours (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide academic support to students individually and in small groups, reinforcing teacher-led instruction.
- Assist students with classroom activities, assignments, and transitions throughout the school day.
- Support positive behavior, self-regulation, and engagement using school-wide expectations and strategies.
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Adapt and prepare instructional materials as directed by classroom teachers.
- Collect observational data and share feedback with teachers to support student progress.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times, including arrival, lunch, recess, and transitions.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to align student supports with classroom and school-wide goals.
Qualifications
Required (one of the following):
- Two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester or 90 quarter credits), OR
- An AA, AS, AAS (or higher) degree, OR
- A passing score of 460 or higher on the ParaPro Assessment
Preferred:
- Experience working with children in an educational or youth-serving setting
- Familiarity with instructional or behavior support strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families
- Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting all learners
