RN NURSE MANAGER - Monday through Friday 3pm to 11pm with On-Call hours
POSITION OBJECTIVES
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the supervision of medical services under the direction of the Director of Nursing (DON). These responsibilities include being a working team player and providing direct care medical services such as admission & discharge of patients, medication administration of patients, nursing assessments of patients and providing supervision of medical assistants/techs, lab personnel and nursing staff during the assigned shift. The Nurse Manager is responsible for making routine day to day decisions in guiding and directing staff during the assigned shift and will consult with the DON when needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Ensure quality internal and external customer care and service.
2. Provide supervision of the nurses, techs and lab staff during the assigned shift.
3. Ensure support of physicians, PA’s and APRN’s during routine physical exams and follow-up visits.
4. Ensure nursing assessments are completed, and co-sign nursing assessments on assigned shifts.
5. Oversee and/or administration of medications following established protocols.
6. Ensure necessary laboratory tests are completed as ordered. Monitor lab work for accuracy in collection and timely evaluation and reporting of results.
7. Monitor and ensure documentation of vital signs and other ordered assessments is completed.
8. Ensure all doctors’ orders are carried out and documented.
9. Maintain medical records with accurate documentation of patient care with daily chart audits.
10. Record all medical referrals and requests for medical services on appropriate forms.
11. Review and sign off accuracy of all MARs.
12. Ensure that all controlled medications and other medications ordered from pharmacies are signed in accurately.
13. Triage telephone calls regarding Detoxification, medical information and services offered.
14. Provide and/or supervise emergency nursing services to residential and detoxification patients as needed.
15. Maintain staff required ratios by calling in PRN nurses and techs as needed to fill unexpected vacancies.
16. Communicate daily with the DON about any issues that affect the operation of detoxification and residential services.
17. Ensure compliance with Federal confidentiality rules.
18. Follow Gateway Community Services Policies and Procedures.
19. Perform special projects and other Agency related assignments as requested.
20. Rotate on call with DON as assigned.

1. Must be eligible through DCF and AHCA with Level II Background checks throughout employment.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from a licensed nursing school.
- One year psychiatric or chemical dependency nursing is preferred.
- One year Nursing Supervisory duties is preferred.
- Current Florida License: RN and valid CPR certification

- General nursing process knowledge, including pharmacology, drug interactions, and physical and behavioral patterns.
- Knowledge of the recovery process and 12-step programs is preferred.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices for substance use and co-occurring disorders.
- Have knowledge and understanding of cultural competencies to establish and maintain strong working relationships with culturally diverse patients, their families, and caregivers as well as a wide range of community agencies and organizations.
