In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information prior to applying to a Federal Work-Study job.
- FWS is a need-based, federally funded program.
- FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office.
- FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
- The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals.

Essential Functions
Student Outreach:
- Making Outbound and answering inbound phone calls, sending emails, text messages, and other communications.
Provide on-campus tours:
- Engage new and prospective students during Campus Tours, documenting attendance and providing follow-up.
- Assist with front counter inquiries when/if needed.
- May also assist with other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours or more at GateWay, have unmet financial need, and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.
Desired Qualifications
- Basic Computer skills (Google suite, spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, CRM experience a plus but not required).
- Positive customer service skills and attitude.
- Comfortable speaking to small and medium Groups (Tours).
- Prior office experience preferred but not required.
Special Working Conditions
- Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
- May require numerous evenings or weekends
- May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
- May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs
- MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas
