Job Summary
Student workers in Academic Advising and Career and Transfer Services will develop professional communication and office skills in an educational, customer service environment. Responsibilities include assisting students and employers in person, by phone, chat, and email; scheduling appointments; supporting advisors during clock-hour information sessions; and assisting with events and office systems. Student workers will serve as ambassadors for the college while building valuable workplace and customer service experience.

In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements. - FWS is a need-based, federally funded program.
- FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office.
- FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
- The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals.

Essential Functions
- Provide front office support in greeting individuals and groups in person, answering telephones, chat, ASSIST, and emails, and responding in a professional manner.
- Greet guests (i.e., students, prospective students, employers, community members, and other college employees) with promptness and courtesy, build rapport, and seek understanding of how we can assist them in their inquiry or academic journey.
- Conduct reminder calls and emails to students for academic advising appointments and event registration.
- Provide drop-in peer advising via chat to students on general program questions.
- Conduct outreach to Clock Hour students who have not completed college admissions or FAFSA applications.
- Offer general advising support related to registration processes and career exploration within Beauty & Wellness and Trade programs.

Assist with early alert outreach and tasks related to reports received to support retention and student success.
This position is located at the GWCC Central City campus at 1245 E. Buckeye Rd. in the Student Services area
Minimum Qualifications
Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours or more at GateWay, have unmet financial need, and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.
