In order to qualify for a Federal Work-Study (FWS) job, a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) must be on file for the current award year and have eligible financial needs based on the college requirements. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information prior to applying to a Federal Work-Study job.
- FWS is a need-based, federally funded program.
- FWS requires the completion of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and confirmation of federal work-study eligibility as determined by the financial aid office.
- FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
- The FWS award amount is based on your FAFSA results and college funding availability, which will determine the number of hours available to work while supporting the students academic goals.

Essential Functions
The Advanced Cyber System Lab Tech will help maintain the lab, patiently assist learners with onboarding projects, as well as help with both current and new IT projects. Greet everyone who visits the lab and help them get started with a suitable project, and provide access to materials. Help keep the lab materials organized. Create documentation for IT projects. Do research related to IT projects. Patiently help stuck students troubleshoot IT issues.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours or more at GateWay, have unmet financial need, and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.
Completion of BPC170 and BPC270 or CIS126DL or CIS270.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of IT and networking equivalent to a CompTIA A or Security certification.
- The willingness to work through the process of learning new things and documenting.
- Work will take place in a computer lab.
- Applicant should be able to lift 40 lbs. and use common IT tools.
