SALARY: $18.50-$21.62 HOURLY
WORK DAYS: 228 DAYS
LOCATION: GATEWAY COLLEGE PREPARATORY SCHOOL, GEORGETOWN TEXAS
Primary Role:
Support the Director of Campus Facilities in maintaining a safe, clean, and fully operational school environment. Coordinate and perform maintenance tasks, support custodial operations, assist with contractor oversight, and ensures that the campus and facilities meets standards for safety, functionality, and appearance.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair:
Help ensure all equipment is regularly maintain and is in good working order (lawn mowers, golf cart, etc.)
Perform minor carpentry duties such as repair of ceiling/walls and floors, bathroom partitions, shelves, braces, doors and window; install pencil sharpeners, chalkboards, dry erase boards, cubbies, toilet paper holders, paper towel and soap dispensers, flag holders, etc.
Perform minor plumbing duties such as the install and repair of faucets, valves, drains, traps and safety valves, filters and pipe fittings.
Perform minor electrical duties such as the replacement or repair of light bulbs and ballasts, exit light fixtures, fuses, switches, hand dryers, cords and plugs
Perform painting for interior or exterior surfaces as needed; make sure to clean area after completion
Maintain, repair and inventory tools and equipment as required
Follow district purchasing policies for contracted repairs.
Support and direct custodial and maintenance staff during daily operations and special projects.
Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and grounds to identify potential issues and safety hazards.
Provide input to the Director of Campus Facilities regarding when outside contractors are needed for specialized repairs.
Assist in setup and breakdown for events, meetings, trainings, and use of common spaces.
Custodial and Grounds Support:
Help ensure that the school (classrooms, offices, restrooms hallways, common areas, etc.) are clean and well maintained
Support setup of school events and activities and help schedule staff appropriately to cover event time and clean-up/take down (for tables, chairs, etc.)
Assist with reviewing and modifying a custodial coverage schedule that outlines shifts, assigned areas and tasks with times included that fall within reasonable standard custodial coverage rates (square feet per hour) and also the cleaning schedule during lunch coverage.
Help ensure that custodial daily work schedules are being followed with assigned task completed
Follow daily work schedule with assigned task completed
Assist with inventory (cleaning supplies, tools, maintenance materials) and equipment tracking and notify supervisor when supplies are low
Help ensure that school grounds, including lawn, courtyard and other outdoor areas are properly maintained
Assist with seasonal tasks including irrigation upkeep, debris removal, etc.
Maintain outdoor equipment and tools to ensure they are working properly
School/Community Relations:
Interact positively with employees and the community to provide a welcoming, clean and safe school environment
Receive, prioritize, and process maintenance requests from teachers, staff, and administrators in a timely manner using the Eduphoria platform for facility work orders
Collaborate with the IT Department as needed to ensure facility operations are maintained
Safety and Security:
Follow safety standards of equipment use and cleaning supplies
Help ensure compliance with district safety policies and procedures
Maintain clear exists and safe access throughout the campus
Support completion of the bi-annual maintenance check for Sentinel compliance.
Assist in performing preventative maintenance and document task and results.
Assist with updating campus emergency maps, signage, and facility-related aspects of the Emergency Management Plan.
Report safety concerns promptly to the Director of Campus Facilities and Head of School and follow procedures to mitigate risks.
Work outside in non-climate-controlled weather conditions or inside in climate-controlled conditions

Qualifications:
Education/Certification
High school diploma and post-secondary education/training in applicable area(s); bachelor's degree preferred
Valid driver's license
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of basic principles of construction
Knowledge of methods, practice, and safety precautions of the skilled trades
Knowledge of basic carpentry, electrical systems, plumbing and painting
Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and manuals
Skill in performing routine building and grounds maintenance work
Skill in the use and care of tools and machinery
Skill in the use of related computer systems and software programs such as work order and email.
Skill in communication in concise and effective manner
Ability to prioritize and organize work responsibilities and delegate appropriate departmental task effectively
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
At least three to five years of experience in general maintenance and/or specific maintenance areas
Supervisory experience preferred but not required

Travel to purchase needed supplies and materials
Able to push and pull 50lbs occasionally.
Life and carry up to 10lbs from floor tow chest frequently and up to 10lbs over head occasionally
Walk, stand, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull and carry on a continual basis
Operate hand and power tools applicable to trade
Work irregular hours and respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed
