Job Summary
The Scope Technician is responsible for preparing procedure rooms and equipment, ensuring all scopes and instruments are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained according to infection control standards. This position assists with patient preparation and transport, supports pre-sedation care, and ensures that procedure areas are properly equipped and organized for safe and efficient operations.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assemble sterilized or disinfected instruments and recheck all instruments for cleanliness and proper function
- Prepare and maintain procedure rooms, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for each case
- Assist in transporting and positioning patients before and after procedures
- Support the central processing area by assisting patients with attire and providing preoperative care, including vital signs and pre-procedure instructions
- Maintain and organize medical supplies and instruments; manage restocking and inventory records
- Communicate equipment and supply needs, including order status, back orders, and any required maintenance
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other team members to ensure a safe and efficient clinical environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication skills with patients, families, and staff
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Professional, compassionate, and team-oriented approach to patient care
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- BLS certification preferred
- Medical Assistant or EMT certification preferred
- Technician license preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical environment
- 1 year of experience as a scope technician preferred
- 1 year of endoscopy experience preferred
- Ability to stand and move throughout the facility for extended periods
- Manual dexterity and coordination required for handling instruments and equipment
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
