This position assists with patient preparation, sedation support, and post-procedure care while providing leadership and training to scope technicians. The role also includes emergency medical support, maintaining clinical readiness, and ensuring compliance with infection control and facility standards.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide daily leadership, training, and guidance to scope technicians
- Prepare and maintain endoscopy suites and procedure rooms, ensuring proper setup and readiness
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize all endoscopic instruments and maintain proper documentation for traceability
- Assist in patient transport, monitoring, and pre-sedation care as directed by nursing or physician staff
- Provide EMT-level support during procedures and emergencies, including patient monitoring and response
- Maintain inventory of supplies, order replacements, and communicate with vendors and leadership about equipment needs or issues
- Ensure compliance with infection control, sterilization, and safety standards
- Support new employee onboarding and competency assessments for scope and clinical technicians
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and anesthesia providers to ensure smooth daily operations and optimal patient care
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to manage workflow and priorities
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities
- In-depth understanding of sterilization and infection control practices
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach with professionalism and integrity
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Current EMT certification required
- BLS certification required
- Surgical or Endoscopy Technician certification preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience, including at least 1 year in endoscopy or sterile processing
- Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred
- Ability to stand and move throughout the facility for prolonged periods
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for handling instruments and patient care tasks
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds
