Revere Public Schools provides meals to 8,000 students and faculty each school day. Food Service Workers prepare and serve nutritious meals in an atmosphere welcoming to all and are expected to be adept in performing all aspects of Cafeteria duties.
Reports to Director of Food and Nutrition Services
Duties include but are not limited to the following. Additions and modifications to these representative duties and responsibilities are under the purview of the Superintendent of Schools and Directors of Food and Nutrition Services. Full Time Cafeteria Worker responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
SCHEDULE & COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT
This is a full time position, working 35 hours per week for the school year. Schedule, salary, and benefits will be determined by the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Reports to Director of Food and Nutrition Services
Duties include but are not limited to the following. Full Time Cafeteria Worker responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Preparing meals.
- Serving meals.
- Utilizing various kitchen equipment.
- Operating cash registers.
- Completing required paperwork.
- Cleaning and sanitizing food prep, serving, and storage areas.
- Interacting with students, co-workers, and faculty members.
- Participating in delivering a quality dining experience for students and faculty members.
- Fulfilling other duties consistent with operating a school meals program.
- Supporting the Director and Manager in fulfilling all other departmental responsibilities as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
- ServSafe Manager Certification preferred.
- Familiar with requirements of USDA School Meals Programs.
- Proficiency in performing the full range of Cafeteria duties.
- Ability to operate Point of Service System.
- Basic Computer Skills.
- Handle cash transactions.
- Lift, carry and transport heavy items sometimes greater than 25 pounds.
- Work effectively, efficiently, and independently.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized, consistent initiative and follow through.
- Record of reliable attendance.
- Demonstrated discretion, judgement and confidentiality in working with employees and students.
