What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional, High School position at Gardner Public Schools?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in an educational setting.
- Must be qualified with a minimum of 2 years of college, or have passed or be willing to prepare for the Para Pro Test.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To assist teachers by working with individual students or small groups to offer academic support as needed.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities.
- Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
- Guides independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, field trips or other school activities.
- Assists with group activities such as drill work and reading.
- Checks and monitors student work and supervises testing and make-up work, as assigned by the teacher.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by teachers and/or the building principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Per Contract.
