POSITION TITLE: Medication Assistant
SUPERVISOR’S TITLE: Director of Health Services
STATUS: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Medication Assistant administers medications as prescribed by the physician, Administration, the medication effectiveness, and any noted adverse reactions or side effects.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist all residents with a high quality of medication administration assistance per individual Care Plan/ISP as directed by physician orders.
- Assist with personal care, including but not limited to; bathing, dressing, grooming, shaving, incontinent care, foot care, vital signs, height and weight checks per policy (where applicable).
- Make beds as needed in A.M., turn down as needed in P.M., strip beds once each week or PRN (where applicable).
- Do all personal laundry on resident’s first scheduled shower day (where applicable).
- Do all linens per shift (where applicable).
- Assist residents with mealtime, cut food, encourage to eat, feed when needed (where applicable).
- Utilized on an on-going basis each day all aspects of special programs offered in personalized memory care program (where applicable).
- Maintain calm atmosphere at all times.
- Keep kitchen, workstation, laundry room, and bathroom and common areas neat and clean.
- Follow through with all assignments on a timely basis in accordance to chain of command.
- Report to Director of Health Services and/or LPN-LVN Care Partner all unusual behavior of resident (changing of status).
- Check station bulletin board per shift for Special Needs Sheet, and any other pertinent information regarding needs, staff programming, etc.
- Provide activities as planned and/or directed (where applicable).
- Document resident status as per policy.
- Respond to all call lights and emergencies in a timely manner.
- Provide emergency care with scope of practice.
- Be familiar with and enforce as appropriate all facility policies.

Education Required (Preferred):
- High School diploma preferred
- Medication Assistance Certificate (State where required)
Years of Experience:
- One Year of experience working as a Medication Assistant/CAN/PCA/RA, preferred
- One year of experience working with Senior Living/Alzheimer’s residents, preferred
Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to learn and work with the specific needs of the residents
- Willingness to be available for any/all emergencies regarding the facility
- A basic proficiency in the English language enabling understanding and communication with our community’s residents is an essential skill
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products
Special Requirements (if applicable):
- Doctor’s statement verifying free from communicable disease

- Resident Care/Assessment: Must be intact including color, depth perception and field of vision.
5. Environmental factors:
- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
- The worker is subject to hazards including some hazardous waste.
- The worker is subject to hazards and other environmental conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: Fumes, odors dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, PRN
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
