Position Summary
The Kitchen Aide assists with the daily preparation, serving, and cleanup of nutritious meals and snacks for children enrolled at Garden of Dreams Preschool. This position helps maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment while following food safety and childcare licensing requirements.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
- Follow daily menus, portion sizes, and meal schedules.
- Assist with delivering meals and snacks to classrooms.
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Clean and sanitize countertops, food preparation areas, and kitchen surfaces.
- Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing food supplies.
- Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures.
- Follow established procedures for children's food allergies and dietary restrictions.
- Remove trash and maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
- Perform other kitchen-related duties as assigned by the Center Director.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous food service or childcare kitchen experience preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff.
- Must meet applicable Michigan childcare licensing and health requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform routine kitchen cleaning duties.
Pay: $15.50 - $16.50 per hour
