Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Health, Environmental, and Safety (HES) Specialist to join our team. This role is vital in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, promoting occupational health, and fostering a safe work environment across our manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, workers' compensation law, and occupational health practices. This position offers an opportunity to lead safety initiatives, conduct training & development sessions, and implement effective safety protocols to protect our workforce and environment.

Duties

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead incident investigations using root cause analysis techniques to determine underlying issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, incident reports, and compliance status.
  • Provide first aid and CPR training to employees; coordinate with emergency response teams as needed.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims in accordance with applicable laws; ensure proper documentation and reporting.
  • Deliver training & development programs focused on occupational health, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor workplace conditions to ensure adherence to OSHA standards and occupational health best practices.
  • Collaborate with management to develop safety initiatives that promote a culture of safety across all departments.
  • Stay current with evolving regulations related to workers' compensation law, EPA standards, OSHA requirements, and occupational health trends.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in manufacturing or industrial environments with a strong understanding of OSHA regulations and EPA standards.
  • Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, or other relevant safety qualifications are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation law and experience managing related claims is preferred.
  • Strong report writing skills with the ability to analyze data for root cause analysis and safety improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills for delivering training & development sessions effectively.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations into incidents and recommend practical solutions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to occupational health and safety best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field is preferred but not mandatory with relevant experience. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe workplace environment while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
