The English Department seeks a graduate student to work in the role of NeMLA Graduate Assistant on projects related to the Northeast Modern Language Association ( NeMLA ), a professional academic association focused on literatures, languages, and the interdisciplinary humanities.

Duties
The NeMLA Graduate Assistant would support NeMLA’s executive director and associate executive director on a variety of administrative work. Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with the annual convention (preparation, logistics, set-up/breakdown, operations, and possibly coordinating other staffers),
- General office work (e.g. database management, inventory tracking, filing, organization),
- Social Media posting,
- Researching and gathering information to support executive decision-making (e.g. tracking and organizing documents and information, research new vendors or products, etc.),
- General communication between the association and its members and officers or board of directors,
- Preparing content for the newsletter (including researching, writing, editing, and coordinating with contributors),
- Other special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a Gannon University graduate student in good standing with their department with a GPA above 3.2, and will have most or all of the following skills, experiences, or abilities:
- Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).
- Highly organized and disciplined with strong time-management.
- Attentive to details.
- Self-directed, independent, and able to follow instructions unsupervised.
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and external professionals.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneDrive).
- Reliable, honest; must be in good academic standing with no prior academic integrity violations; required to adhere to strict confidentiality policies.
Would be great if you also had one or more of these skills:
- Social Media management experience.
- HTML & CSS , and WordPress or other CMS backend administration.
- Proficiency with Adobe creative suite (especially InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop, and Illustrator).
- Intermediate or advanced proficiency in non-English languages (Portuguese, Hindi, Japanese, Chinese, French, Spanish, German).
- May be asked to travel to convention location in another city and to assist in set-up and breakdown of posters, projectors, tables, etc.
- Should be able to bend, lift, push and pull to assist with moving boxes and supplies in various areas throughout the Palumbo Academic Center.
- May be asked to lift up to 30-50 pounds (e.g. boxed or bagged items).
- May be asked to transport items across campus or to load items into a vehicle (e.g. using a dolly or hand truck).
