Load Builder

Job Summary

The Load Builder is responsible for accurately assembling, loading, unloading, and staging building materials for customer delivery or yard storage. This role ensures orders are complete, safely loaded, and prepared in accordance with company safety standards and delivery requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

• Load and unload building materials for customer deliveries and yard storage
• Move materials to and from storage, production areas, loading zones, and delivery vehicles using forklifts or other material-handling equipment
• Read work orders or receive instructions to determine load requirements and priorities
• Assemble and stack materials safely in sheds, storage areas, or delivery vehicles
• Attach identifying tags and verify materials against work orders
• Inspect completed loads to ensure accuracy and compliance with order requirements
• Review orders for completeness and route incomplete orders for correction
• Check inventory availability and notify appropriate departments when stock is low
• Maintain accurate order documentation and required records
• Perform general yard and housekeeping duties
• Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Perform other related duties as assigned
  
  

Required Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to operate hand tools and power tools as needed
• Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
• Ability to work safely in an active outdoor lumberyard environment
  
  

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum six (6) months of warehouse, yard, construction, or material-handling experience preferred
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting indoors and outdoors
• Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 75 pounds
• Ability to push or pull up to 75 pounds
• Must possess sufficient physical ability, manual dexterity, grip strength, and depth perception to safely perform required duties
• Must wear required personal protective equipment while handling materials or operating equipment
  
  

Other Requirements

• Must successfully pass pre-employment and required drug screenings
• Must successfully complete a Physical Capacity Assessment if required
