JOB SUMMARY:

The Galveston County Sheriff's Office is seeking a professional, detail-oriented data entry warrants clerk. This position is a security sensitive position responsible for receiving, accurately entering, accessing, and safeguarding confidential/security sensitive law enforcement information. This position requires sound judgment, professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential job duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following:

• Answer phone calls and direct calls to the appropriate person and/or take messages.

• Receives, processes, and distributes, criminal and civil warrants; enters into local, state, and national computer databases.

• Processes returns of executed criminal and civil warrants.

• Receives, updates, and enters data regarding persons or warrants.

• Coordinates and schedules extradition trips for deputies to transport.

• Dispatch deputies for various calls.

• Organizes and maintains files related to operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Possess a valid Texas driver’s license.

• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.

• Ability to speak, read, and write the English language in a clear and understandable fashion.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft products).

• Skill in multi-tasking and prioritizing.

• Strong interpersonal skills, able to work cooperatively with others.

• Ability to keep sensitive information confidential.

• Ability to organize, compile, and record information accurately.

• Ability to perform research utilizing a variety of paper-based and electronic sources.

• Ability to operate common office equipment including but not limited to computer, photocopier, and fax machine.

• Successfully pass a background review.

• Successfully pass an interview board.

• Successfully complete and pass the full access TCIC/NCIC operator course.

Compensation: $18.50 Hourly
