Position Summary:
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC mills and lathes to produce precision parts that meet quality and production standards. This role interprets blueprints, selects appropriate tooling, and ensures accurate machine setups while monitoring part quality throughout the manufacturing process. The CNC Machinist works collaboratively with engineering and production teams to optimize efficiency, troubleshoot issues, and maintain a safe, organized work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Setup and run mills and lathes
- Load materials/parts and make necessary offsets or adjustments to maintain part quality
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings with a high level of accuracy
- Perform 1st piece inspections on setups and parts as trained
- Optimizes production rates on work centers while maintaining established quality levels
- Ensure proper documentation is completed accurately, including set-up sheets, part counts and production records
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job travelers, and work instructions
- Familiarity with CNC machining processes
- Ability to read, interpret and adjust G code programming
- Ability to read and use Calipers, Micrometers, Height Stands, Indicators, and other measuring equipment
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Good attendance and reliable work history
- Willingness to learn new machines and processes
- Previous experience in manufacturing or production environment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for the duration of the shift
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs regularly
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a manufacturing environment
