Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Associate Optometrist to join our dedicated eye care team who is also interested in purchasing the practice. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and manage ocular conditions, and deliver exceptional patient care. Your expertise will help improve vision health and enhance the quality of life for our diverse patient population. Duties

  • Conduct thorough eye examinations using advanced diagnostic equipment and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems to document findings accurately.
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of ocular conditions, including refractive errors, glaucoma, cataracts, and pediatric eye issues.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses, contact lenses, medications, or refer patients to specialists when necessary.
  • Maintain detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment plans tailored to their needs.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists, opticians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Stay current with advancements in optometry, medical terminology, and industry best practices through ongoing professional development.
  • Assist with optical sales by providing expert advice on eyewear options while ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Utilize medical coding accurately for billing purposes and insurance claims processing.
  • Office is currently located in the Gallatin Valley Mall. We see patients Monday thru Friday. Patient care hours are generally 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday thru Thursday with last patient scheduled at 5:00, and 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Friday with last patient scheduled at 4:00. We typically see 12 patients a day (11 on Fridays).
  • Currently employee 3 support staff members to help with clinic flow, including a certified optician with over 20 years of experience. Staff performs pre-testing including: entering patient history, A/R, photos, and presenting Rx information.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of optometry principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health.
  • Proven experience in optometry/optical care settings with a focus on general patient care and eye disease and making lens recommendations for the optical.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation and record management.
  • Excellent customer service skills combined with sales acumen to enhance patient satisfaction and practice growth.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive eye exams, including measuring vital signs relevant to ocular health assessments.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring strict confidentiality of patient information.
  • Understanding of medical coding processes for accurate billing and insurance reimbursement.
  • Effective communication skills to educate patients clearly about their eye health status and treatment options.
  • Adaptability to fast-paced environments with a proactive approach to continuous learning in optometry advancements.
