Location: Troy, Michigan | Employee Type: Full-time
The ideal candidate will be responsible for appropriately evaluating project costs for a commercial/industrial mechanical contracting company. The candidate will be familiar with our competitive advantages as an organization and will be able to communicate those to our benefit throughout the bidding process. This position requires previous industrial mechanical contracting.
Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge of competitive advantages in the industry to aid bidding process
- Review bid packages
- Create estimates that include costs for industrial mechanical projects, specifically piping
- Develop bid proposals and obtain pricing from subcontractors
- Attend meetings and walk-throughs
- Determine strategic approach for any voluntary alternates
- Review take-offs with field operations and engineering
- Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Obtain accurate quotes for materials and systems to establish accurate cost estimates
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred, not required
- Solid understanding of basic accounting and financial principles
- Familiarity with blueprints and ability to read plans
- 3 - 5 years' of estimating commercial/industrial mechanical systems/utility systems required
