We strive to provide the best possible care for our clients, and we are seeking compassionate, dependable Personal Support Specialists to join our registry/agency.

Position: Personal Support Specialist

A Personal Support Specialist (PSS) plays a vital role in supporting older adults, individuals with disabilities, and participants in OLTL/ODP programs by providing hands-on assistance, emotional encouragement, and daily living support in the home or community.

This position is ideal for candidates who are patient, compassionate, and passionate about helping others maintain independence.

Key Responsibilities

As a Personal Support Specialist, you may support clients with tasks such as:

Personal Care Support

• Assisting with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and hygiene
• Helping with mobility, transfers, repositioning, and fall-prevention

Home & Daily Living Support

• Light housekeeping, laundry, and maintaining a safe environment
• Meal preparation and supporting dietary needs
• Running errands, grocery shopping, and home-management tasks

Community & Social Support

• Providing companionship and emotional support
• Assisting with community outings, social activities, and appointments
• Encouraging independence in daily tasks and skills

Health & Safety

• Monitoring client condition and reporting changes
• Following individual care plans and safety procedures
• Documenting services accurately through EVV (HHAeXchange/Sandata)

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old
• Valid ID and ability to pass background checks (PA State, FBI, Child Abuse if applicable)
• Reliability, compassion, and professionalism
• Basic communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift, support, or assist individuals safely
• Prior experience preferred but not required (training provided)

Preferred / Helpful Certifications (Not Required)

• CPR & First Aid
• HHA, PCA, DSP, or CNA training/certification
• ODP-approved training (55 Pa. Code Chapter 6100)
• OLTL mandatory onboarding modules
• Mandated Reporter Certification
• Defensive Driving (for transportation-supporting roles)

Depending on client needs and authorization, Personal Support Specialists may work under:

• Companion Services (363 – Basic, Level 1, Level 2)
• Homemaker/Chore (431)
• In-Home & Community Support (Basic, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3)
• Attendant Care / Personal Assistance (362)
• Respite Care (Basic–Enhanced)
• Job Support, Career Assessment, or Employment Skills (if qualified)

Pay Rate Structure (1099 Independent Contractor)

Pay is based on experience, service level, and client care plan.

• Every weekend or no weekends
