FPGA Engineer / FPGA Hardware Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a talented FPGA Engineer to support the design, development, verification, and certification of FPGA-based solutions for aerospace and defense applications. The ideal candidate will have experience in RTL development, FPGA verification, hardware integration, and compliance with industry standards, including DO-254.

Key Responsibilities

• Capture, decompose, and maintain requirements traceability throughout the development lifecycle.
• Develop RTL designs and simulation environments using VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog.
• Create and execute hardware test cases, procedures, and integration activities.
• Define and implement verification strategies, including hardware-based verification environments, frameworks, and tools.
• Perform ASIC, FPGA, and SoPC verification using analysis, inspection, simulation, and testing methodologies.
• Develop and maintain DO-254 DAL-A certification artifacts for Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH).
• Participate in design reviews, peer reviews, and technical audits.
• Support FAA SOI audits and certification activities as required.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, program leadership, and customers to achieve project objectives.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by recommending enhancements to FPGA/ASIC design and verification processes.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members when appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or a related field, and relevant professional experience; or an advanced degree in a related field with relevant experience.
• Experience developing RTL and test benches using VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, and/or UVM.
• Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
• Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages such as C, C , Python, or Perl.
• Experience with FPGA development and verification tools such as Questasim, Vivado, Libero, Synplify Pro, or similar.
• Experience with industry-standard data interfaces including PCIe, DDR, I2C, Ethernet, ARINC-429, or comparable protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DO-254 design assurance processes and certification activities.
• Familiarity with advanced verification methodologies, including constrained random verification, UVM, functional coverage, and code coverage.
• Experience supporting aerospace, avionics, defense, or other safety-critical systems.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
