We are a Business Analyst II to support department-level projects and tactical enhancements by gathering detailed business requirements and partnering with IT to implement effective solutions. This is an intermediate-level role ideal for someone who enjoys translating business needs into clear functional specifications, supporting delivery teams, and improving processes through data-driven insights.
What does a Business Analyst do at GAINSCO?
- Elicit and document business requirements and translate them into functional specifications and/or user stories.
- Conduct detailed requirement analysis to ensure clarity, completeness, and alignment with business goals.
- Lead and participate in stakeholder meetings to uncover needs, validate requirements, and drive alignment
- Build reports and presentations that communicate findings and progress using tools like Excel, Power BI, Tableau.
- Serve as the key liaison between stakeholders and technical teams—ensuring requirements are understood and delivered accurately.
- Support on-time delivery by managing scope, priorities, and stakeholder expectations.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions.
- Develop and maintain business process workflows, data flows, and system/solution diagrams to support requirements analysis, stakeholder alignment, and solution design.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) planning, execution, defect triage, and reporting.
- Mentor Business Analyst I team members on best practices and methodologies.
- Create training documentation and support end-user enablement as needed.
What is required?
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred.
Certifications:
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) are preferred.
Experience:
- 2 or more years of experience in Business Analysis, Project Management, or a related field required.
- 1 years in P&C insurance, Personal Auto preferred.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery and general project management practices.
- Proficiency using SQL and project management tools like Asana, Wrike, MS Project, or similar.
- Proficiency in using Project Management software like Asana, Wrike, MS Project, or similar preferred.
- Proficiency with diagramming and collaboration tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, or similar platforms.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to create and manage user stories and work items using tools like Azure DevOps.
- Ability to create clear and effective visual representations of business processes, data flows, and system interactions (e.g., workflows, swimlane diagrams, context diagrams).
- Lead and manage multiple projects and work streams with competing demands.
- Troubleshoot and escalate project issues, risks, and mitigation appropriately.
- Leverage critical thinking, problem-solving, and influencing skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent and objectives.
- Adapt to rapidly changing business environment and business needs.
- Strong business and mental acuity with excellent process orientation and critical thinking skills.
- Extremely detail-oriented with excellent follow-through.
