Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and student-centered coach to lead our Freshman/Sophomore (Frosh/Soph) Girls Volleyball team for the upcoming fall season. The Frosh/Soph coach plays a critical role in our program by developing the technical, tactical, and competitive foundation that prepares student-athletes for varsity-level play. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching the game, building confidence in young athletes, and creating a positive team culture rooted in respect, effort, and sportsmanship.
Season Details
- Summer Camps: 5 weeks from June to July for 2.5 hours per day.
- Season: August through October
- Practices: Monday through Friday, approximately 2.5 hours per day after school
- Matches: Typically 2 per week during the regular season, including some Saturday tournaments
Reports to: Head Varsity Volleyball Coach and Athletic Director
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead daily practices that develop fundamental skills including serving, passing, setting, hitting, blocking, and defense.
- Coach all home and away matches, making in-game adjustments and lineup decisions.
- Teach team systems and rotations aligned with the overall program philosophy set by the head varsity coach.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team environment that emphasizes growth, accountability, and sportsmanship.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with players, parents, school staff, and officials.
- Supervise athletes at practices, games, team events, and during transportation when required.
- Attend coaches meetings, league functions, and end-of-season program events.
- Support the long-term development of athletes for advancement to the JV and Varsity programs
Qualifications
- Background in volleyball coaching or playing at competitive levels is required
- Prior experience in sports coaching or teaching physical education is highly desirable
- Experience working with students in educational or recreational settings
- Strong understanding of behavior management techniques to foster discipline and positive conduct on and off the court
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff while maintaining a lively and motivating presence
- Ability to pass a background check and complete required district onboarding.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before the season starts).
