Position Overview
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy (FSHA), an all-girls Catholic high school dedicated to educating young women for a life of faith, integrity, and excellence, is seeking a Frosh/Soph Volleyball Coach. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable coach who can support the development of student-athletes, foster a positive team culture, and build foundational volleyball skills while promoting sportsmanship and teamwork in alignment with FSHA’s mission and values.
Season: June 15 – October 14
Compensation: $4,000 stipend for the season
Schedule Expectations:
- Practices Monday–Friday (approximately 2 hours per day)
- Participation in one Saturday tournament
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan and lead daily practices focused on skill development, conditioning, and game strategy appropriate for the frosh/soph level.
- Teach and reinforce fundamental volleyball skills, including serving, passing, setting, hitting, and defensive play.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team environment that supports student growth and confidence.
- Support student-athletes in balancing academics and athletics while encouraging teamwork, accountability, and sportsmanship.
- Collaborate with the Head Volleyball Coach to ensure program alignment and player development across all levels.
- Assist with match preparation, supervision during games, and communication with players and families.
- Ensure compliance with CIF, league, and FSHA athletic policies and safety standards.
- Attend required coaches’ meetings and athletic department events.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Previous volleyball coaching experience preferred (high school or club level).
- Strong knowledge of fundamental volleyball techniques and rules of the game.
- Ability to effectively teach and motivate high school student-athletes.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and empowering environment for young women.
- Willingness to uphold the mission and values of a Catholic school; candidates of all faith backgrounds are welcome to apply.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Any required league or CIF coaching certifications, or willingness to complete prior to the season.
