SENIOR WOMEN’S TECHNICAL OUTERWEAR DESIGNER

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Women’s Technical Outerwear Designer with a background in performance, outdoor, and technical apparel for a position in New York, NY.

The ideal candidate will have 7 years of women’s outerwear design experience and be able to bring design concepts to life in innovative and commercially successful jackets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the development of women’s technical and performance outerwear categories
• Create technical drawings, detailed tech packs, and garment construction details to convey design ideas
• Choose appropriate outerwear materials, insulation systems, and functional trims for each product
• Design silhouettes that balance women’s fit and proportion with technical performance in a feminine and marketable way
• Stay updated on trends, consumer preferences, and competition to identify opportunities for product innovation
• Collaborate with Production teams and overseas manufacturers to optimize costs while maintaining product quality and design integrity
• Utilize AI technology in the design process for concept creation, trend analysis, color development, and workflow optimization
• Research and assess new AI design technologies to enhance the outerwear design and development process
• Keep communication open with Merchandising, Production, and factories throughout the product lifecycle

QUALIFICATIONS

• 7 years of hands-on Women’s Outerwear design experience in technical, outdoor, and performance products
• Expertise in jacket engineering and construction with a focus on functionality
• Knowledge of women’s fit, proportion, silhouette, fabrication, and insulation
• Ability to blend technical functionality with feminine design and commercial appeal
• Understanding of cost engineering and collaboration with manufacturing partners
• Awareness of market trends and opportunities for innovation
• Comfortable with AI technology and its application in the design process
• AI proficiency required with hands-on experience in AI-powered tools
• Portfolio showcasing Women’s Outerwear experience and technical expertise
