Senior Director, Product Management & Strategy

My client is expanding and seeks a Senior Director of Product Management and Strategy.

The ideal candidate will own P&L, drive commercialization, and serve as the strategic voice of the customer in the life sciences research market.

This person brings strong executive presence, earns the respect of highly technical engineering teams, and leads with both quantitative rigor and commercial instinct.

This Person Will Take On The Following Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Define product strategy, roadmap, and business cases for an instruments and software portfolio
• Own P&L with full accountability for revenue and growth targets
• Lead voice of customer research and market intelligence
• Build and mentor a high-performing product management team
  
  

Product Development

• Collaborate with R&D and Engineering as a credible technical peer — able to engage deeply on requirements, specifications, and tradeoffs
• Drive hardware-software integration and user experience excellence
• Define technical roadmaps and address cybersecurity for connected platforms
• Experience with optical detection systems, fluidics, or laboratory automation preferred
  
  

Commercial Execution

• Develop positioning, pricing, and go-to-market strategies
• Drive product launches, sales enablement, and competitive analysis
• Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Field teams on customer engagement
• Manage regulatory compliance (FDA, CE, ISO 13485)
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Life Sciences; advanced degree preferred
• 12 years in product management for life sciences capital equipment and/or software
• 5 years people management experience
• Proven P&L ownership and successful product launches
• Deep understanding of analytical instruments and laboratory software
• Strong quantitative, financial modeling, and communication skills — you are as comfortable in a data conversation as a boardroom one
• Travel 20–25%
