The Audit Director will act as the bridge between the Partner, the client, and the professional team. Responsibilities include overseeing multiple auditing and accounting projects, managing client engagements, coordinating workflow, developing and mentoring staff, and cultivating new business for the Firm. This role requires expertise in maintaining client relationships and has the potential for growth within the firm.
Duties
- Build and maintain relationships with clients throughout the year, gaining in-depth knowledge of their operations and control systems.
- Lead engagements or report directly to the engagement partner, adhering to firm policies.
- Sign attest opinions on behalf of the firm when serving as the engagement partner.
- Oversee all aspects of engagements to ensure compliance with accounting frameworks and firm policies.
- Keep the engagement Partner informed of key client account developments and address any issues promptly.
- Ensure proper scheduling of engagements and uphold billing practices.
- Provide training and supervision to staff, conduct performance evaluations, and participate in recruitment activities.
- Act as a subject matter expert in the governmental sector and contribute to business development efforts.
- Lead prospective client leads, handle initial communications, and attend client meetings.
- Maintain compliance with Firm-wide policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in public accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior manager role.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
- Ability to travel to client and firm locations.
- Demonstrated track record in bringing new business to a CPA Firm.
- Experience with GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS, and the Uniform Guidance.
- Proficiency in training and supervising departmental staff.
- Exposure to auditing not-for-profit organizations.
Working Environment
- Hybrid work setting allowing flexibility between home, office, and client locations.
- Travel required for same-day and out-of-town client visits, meetings, and seminars.
- Overtime work expected, particularly from August to February.
