Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension components, and electrical systems using schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers to maximize uptime and safety.
- Fabricate and modify parts or equipment as needed using welding, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet operational requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues involving vehicle systems, powertrains, hydraulics, HVAC systems, shocks & struts, and vehicle alignment.
- Assist in the assembly, disassembly, and overhaul of heavy machinery and industrial equipment while adhering to safety standards.
- Perform tire service, wheel alignments, brake repairs, suspension work, and other vehicle maintenance tasks for trucks and farm machinery.
- Maintain detailed service records and logs of all repairs performed; communicate effectively with team members to ensure timely completion of work.
Skills
- Proven dealership or heavy equipment mechanic experience with a strong understanding of diesel mechanics and automotive diagnostics.
- Skilled in reading schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, and mechanical blueprints for accurate troubleshooting.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and heavy lifting procedures.
- Knowledgeable in heavy truck repair including transmissions, air brake systems, hydraulic components, HVAC systems, shocks & struts.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts or farm machinery is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform automotive electrical system repair along with vehicle systems diagnostics for trucks and industrial vehicles.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent customer service skills to support internal teams or external clients effectively.
