Job Description: Diesel Technician
Department: Service | Reports To: Service Manager | Status: Full-Time
Position Summary
The Diesel Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on semi-trucks and trailers. The technician will work on engines, transmissions, drivetrains, brakes, air systems, electrical, hydraulics, and emissions systems to ensure all vehicles meet performance and safety standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on semi-trucks and trailers.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and software.
- Repair and replace components including engines, transmissions, drivetrains, brakes, air systems, and emissions equipment.
- Conduct DOT inspections and ensure all repairs meet federal and state safety standards.
- Document all work performed, parts used, and labor hours accurately.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Communicate clearly with the Service Manager regarding repair status and additional recommendations.
Requirements
- Able to perform maintenance and repairs on semi-trucks and trailers.
- Previous experience as a diesel technician or completion of a diesel technology program.
- Working knowledge of diesel engines, air brakes, electrical, and emissions systems.
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical bulletins.
- Own a basic set of hand tools (specialty tools provided by the company).
- Valid driver's license; CDL Class A or B preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied shop conditions.
- High school diploma or GED.

Work Environment
Work is performed in a shop environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and varying temperatures. The technician must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the shift. Standard schedule is Monday through Friday with occasional overtime as needed.
Pay: $24.00 - $34.00 per hour
