Duties
- Safely operate a range of commercial trucks including specialized trucks such as dump and roll-off vehicles.
- Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment like forklifts or manual methods, ensuring secure and damage-free handling.
- Drive on designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations while maintaining punctual delivery schedules.
- Inspect vehicles daily for mechanical issues or safety concerns; perform routine maintenance checks to ensure optimal performance.
- Manage various types of freight including refrigerated goods, bulk liquids in tankers, oversized loads on flatbeds, and other specialized cargo.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to coordinate pickups and deliveries; update logs and documentation accurately.
- Follow all safety protocols related to driving, cargo securement, and vehicle operation to promote a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission preferred.
- Proven truck driving experience with knowledge of route planning and delivery procedures.
- Familiarity with operating different types of trucks such as flatbeds, tankers, refrigerated trailers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
- Ability to load & unload freight efficiently using forklifts or manual techniques; experience with freight handling is a plus.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations related to commercial driving and cargo securement standards.
- Physical ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and handle heavy loads safely.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers and customers.
