Job Title: Associate Designer – Women's Apparel

Location: New York City, Midtown Manhattan – Fashion District (On-Site)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a creative, highly organized, and detail-oriented Associate Designer to support the design and development of multiple women's apparel categories across two distinct brands. This unique opportunity offers exposure to a broad range of product categories, including tailoring, soft wovens, hard wovens, dresses, skirts, bottoms, and denim. The Associate Designer will play a key role in the product development process, working closely with Design Directors, factories, sample rooms, and cross-functional partners to bring seasonal collections from concept through production.


Key Responsibilities:

• Create and manage design, print, sketch, inspiration, and fabric boards for presentations.

• Conduct trend, runway, market, and competitive research to support seasonal development.

• Produce accurate and detailed flat sketches in Adobe Illustrator.

• Set up and maintain factory development charts and track salesman samples from concept through completion.

• Communicate daily with factories, sample rooms, and internal cross-functional partners to support product development and sample execution.

• Serve as the liaison between local sample rooms, patternmakers, sample makers, and Design Directors.

• Prepare, organize, review, steam, tag, and maintain samples throughout the development process.

• Maintain seasonal photo libraries and prepare visual assets for market presentations and sales needs.

• Create sales CADs and utilize AI tools to support collection presentations and visual assets.

• Prepare design handoff packages for Production and Product Development and update technical sketches following fittings.

• Collaborate closely with Production, Sales, CAD, Technical Design, and Product Development teams throughout the development process.

• Support style management, development tracking, and workflow execution within Centric PLM.


Additional Responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, organization, and adherence to deadlines.

• Work across multiple woven categories, including tailoring, soft wovens, hard wovens, skirts, dresses, bottoms, and denim.

• Support multiple brands with distinct aesthetic directions and customer profiles.

• Proactively identify development challenges and communicate important updates and recommendations to leadership.

• Maintain strong organization of development materials, samples, and seasonal assets.

• Support Design Directors with daily design, development, and operational responsibilities.

• Assist with special projects and additional duties as assigned.

• An experienced designer with exposure to multiple woven apparel categories.

• Comfortable working across multiple brands and aesthetic directions, balancing diverse design perspectives and customer needs.

• Experienced partnering with local NYC sample rooms, patternmakers, and sample makers throughout the development process.

• A strong communicator who collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams including Production, Sales, CAD, Technical Design, and Product Development.

• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, development calendars, and sample tracking responsibilities simultaneously.

• Adaptable and eager to embrace new technologies and systems, with experience in or exposure to PLM platforms preferred.


Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

• Minimum of 3 years of professional apparel design experience.

• Experience across multiple woven product categories preferred.

• Experience working with local NYC sample rooms and patternmakers preferred.

• Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, fabric development, and apparel production processes.

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Experience with Centric PLM strongly preferred.

• Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

• The pay range for this position is: $31.25 – $36.06/hour ($65,000 – $75,000 annually)
