Project Engineer / Office Engineer – State College, PA
I'm currently representing a leading General Contractor in the State College, PA market that is looking to add a Project Engineer / Office Engineer to support the successful delivery of projects from preconstruction through to closeout.
Working closely with the Project Manager and site team, you'll play a key role in scheduling, procurement, subcontractor coordination, document control, and the day-to-day execution of commercial construction projects.
This position is based in State College, PA, so candidates should be within a reasonable daily commute.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of projects from preconstruction through to closeout.
- Manage assigned trades throughout preconstruction, including quantity take-offs, bid package preparation and buyout.
- Oversee assigned trades during construction, including scheduling, cost control, change management and client/consultant coordination.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules.
- Process submittals, RFIs and change orders.
- Coordinate project documentation, digital records and overall project logistics.
- Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, vendors and the wider project team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field.
- 3–5 years of construction experience, ideally within commercial construction.
- Strong understanding of project coordination, subcontractor management and construction documentation.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive problem solver with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
Work Environment
- Combination of office and on-site responsibilities.
- Must be able to travel to project sites as required.
- Comfortable walking active construction sites, including uneven terrain and climbing stairs/ladders when necessary.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and within active construction environments.
