Position Summary:
The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, products, and services. This role works closely with procurement, supply chain, operations, quality, and finance teams to support business objectives through strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research, identify, and qualify new suppliers to meet organizational sourcing requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
- Solicit and evaluate supplier quotations, proposals, and bids.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and service agreements to achieve cost savings and value improvements.
- Analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and supplier performance to support sourcing decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast demand and ensure material availability.
- Monitor supplier performance, quality, delivery, and compliance with company standards.
- Resolve supplier-related issues involving quality, delivery delays, pricing discrepancies, and contract compliance.
- Maintain accurate sourcing, supplier, and contract records within company systems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize sourcing processes and reduce supply chain risk.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Keep a positive, energetic, can-do attitude when representing the company to employees, customers, and visitors.
- Ability to climb, walk, do light lifting, sit for long periods, or stand for long periods.
- Organized, analytical, creative, and adaptive in your approach to problem solving.
- Assist in troubleshooting supply chain issues and seeking collaborative input to find solutions.
- Knowledge in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Successfully track, report, manage and move projects from start to finish.
- Participates in internal and external training and development opportunities as required.
- Performs other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position. These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Procurement, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or a related field.
- Experience negotiating supplier agreements and managing vendor relationships.
- Manufacturing, retail, distribution, or consumer products experience is a plus.
Skills
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of sourcing strategies, contract management, and supply chain principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, or CPPB.
- Experience with SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or other ERP systems.
- Familiarity with global sourcing and international supplier management.
