Responsibilities:
- Provide position classification and position management support, including determining appropriate position titles, occupational series, grades, and organizational alignment.
- Interpret and apply classification standards, regulations, and policies to ensure accurate and consistent classification determinations.
- Consult with supervisors and managers to evaluate duties, responsibilities, and organizational requirements.
- Review, develop, and validate position descriptions to ensure accuracy and alignment with assigned duties.
- Prepare classification evaluation statements, narrative justifications, and supporting documentation for classification determinations.
- Conduct desk audits and position reviews to assess assigned duties and validate classification decisions.
- Determine Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) status, bargaining unit status, and other position-related designations as applicable.
- Identify and recommend solutions for classification and organizational structure issues, including position alignment and workforce management concerns.
- Maintain classification case files, personnel records, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness.
- Provide guidance and customer support regarding classification processes, requirements, and best practices.
- 3-5 years of experience providing advisory and consultative services to supervisors and managers regarding federal position classification and position management.
- Knowledge and expertise with developing position descriptions, reviewing existing position descriptions for accuracy, equity, and recertification; determining the appropriate position title, occupational series, and grade; developing evaluation statements and narrative justifications to support classification determinations.
- Experience analyzing classification actions to ensure they are compliant with Office of Personnel Management (OPM) classification standards, guides, and regulations.
- Experience determining bargaining unit status codes, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and preparing OPM OF-8 form and other relevant PD attachments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with staff and the public as well as be persuasive when defending position determinations.
